Letter to Eu
letter to the UN
We are from Poland, Bulgaria, Catalonia and Sweden. Right now we are in Poland ,enjoying and learning from our Erasmus+ project. We are writing to you because we have a few thoughts about school in future Europe. Society is developing every passing day. But school isn’t. And we would like to change that.
First of all i have one word for you which is computers. In this globalized world this is an important tool to use and understand. Communication is a big part of the next generations life. Sadly, so is wasting stuff that could be used. That’s why we have to teach all the students the basics in repairing their computers and phones. Also, remember that even though reading and writing are good ways to learn, that doesn’t mean they work out perfectly for everyone. We have to introduce new ways to use our knowledge with creativity. We could talk more, act, play music, draw, or express ourselves in other ways than with just a pencil and a paper.
And speaking about differences, all students learn in different ways. But also they are interested in different things. Let the students adjust their schedule in the future so that they get to study things that they have an interest in. And that doesn’t just focus on the theoretic subjects in school, but also PE. in a computerized world it’s easy to stay inside because you have the whole world in front of you without having to take a single step. We have to encourage all students to do sports. And what could be better than letting them choose their PE activities individually. Students health is really important and some fresh air never hurt nobody. Actually, a bunch of science studies says that we learn better outdoors. So take school out of the classroom. let all students get close to nature so that they learn to take care of it and know the importance of a good environment.
I repeat it, communication is everything in the future. And we have a few ideas for making this more centralk in education. First of all. We have to let kids from different countries meet and talk. through internet. Let all children have “chatfriends” and let them facetime and skype with each other. Translation could be a built in function in the program, so that students communication is unlimited. We could create a community for students only and organize competitions and maybe some investigations in politics or health. Also, let young people out in the society to help people. Maybe volunteer work, practising a job or just anything to give them a taste of the world they will go to after school.
Our last idea is an idea of a new subject. It’s focused on relationships. ALL types of them. Relationships to friends, family, school, future, nature, countries etc. But also about racism, sexism, homophobia, feelings and selflove. This will bring all students good values and confidence. Something that is important in the modern society.
